According to Santosh, there are currently accessible natural substitutes for single use plastics such as bamboo, wood, paper, etc. and the additional expense of these alternatives compared to plastics may have a temporary impact, which restaurants will have to absorb. However, because they are not a big portion of a restaurant’s cost, the impact on demand or restaurant operations will be minimal. Customers may eventually face price increases, although this will be significant only if the ban extends to containers.
